Madagascar lies off the east coast of Africa and is the world’s fourth largest island. It is unique. The animals, plants and people are unlike anywhere else. This extraordinary country has long remained obscure as a destination and is little known even amongst the most serious of travellers. Nosy Be is a smaller island off the North West coast and has become the favourite destination for tourists – small in number though they are. Coastal views are spectacular and there are some excellent beaches. The presence of coral reefs means that the sand is white or golden and more often than not a lagoon completes the perfect picture. Nosy Be enjoys a tropical climate all year round, with average temperatures higher than the rest of Madagascar. From 27°C in July-August (the winter season) to 35°C in February–March. The rainy season lasts from January to March.
